It’s time to talk about sustainability

While some new year’s resolutions may already be a distant memory, sustainability is a change that all businesses need to consider in 2019. More than ever before, customers and their janitorial staff are becoming savvier to products and cleaning tools that reduce plastic waste, have a less harmful impact on the environment and, most importantly, on their own health.

Alastair Scott, sales director at Robert Scott, discusses some of the manufacturer and distributor’s latest innovations and leading products that utilise nearly 100 years of cleaning know-how, for those looking to implement a more sustainable cleaning regime this year.


Pro-mist flat mop system
A new favourite among the Clean team at Robert Scott, this innovative microfibre flat mop kit combines a new Pro-mist spray handle and microfibre pads for effective, rapid response cleaning, without the need for excessive amounts of waste water or chemical agents.

The Pro-mist features a removable bottle and spray trigger, which delivers a fine mist of solution directly to the cleaning surface, helping to clean and dry floors quickly. The mop’s break-frame has a built-in release system to avoid user contact with the soiled mop. It is available with nano silver antimicrobial microfibre mop pads, which are designed prevent bacterial growth and can be washed at ambient temperatures of 30 to 40 degrees to save energy and allow for multiple use. It can also be supplied with disposable Mi-mop microfibre pads, which are ideal in hygiene-critical areas such as restaurants or retail units where there’s no access to laundry facilities.


Duop Reach Cleaning Tool
Duop Reach is a versatile, extendable cleaning tool which features a unique, ergonomic ball and socket joint making cleaning strain-free for users. It comprises the Duop Reach extendable handle, removable quickball pad holder, microfibre pads and cloths and a spray bottle. The handle helps to clean hard to reach surfaces and users can also remove the quickball head for targeted hand-held cleaning, making it one of the most versatile products for areas with multiple surface heights and materials.

The washable microfibre pads provide a quick and effective method of removal of 99.9 per cent of harmful bacteria and can be used with clean water only to effectively clean away dirt, dust and microorganisms, without any need for harsh chemicals.


Toucan Eco III
Over the last 12 months we have a seen a significant increase in customers that have transformed cleaning regimes by switching to the Toucan Eco system. The system uses electrochemical activation (ECA) technology – the most effective disinfectant and cleaning alternative to synthetic chemicals on the market. It has only two components – water and table salt (sodium chloride). Together they create a strong, naturally-occurring disinfectant, cleaner and sanitiser that’s safe, non-allergenic, environmentally-friendly and low cost.

Our latest development, Toucan Eco III, is designed for small facilities with a worktop activation unit, 1 litre container and spray bottle so it’s ideal for independent retailers, cafés and restaurants that don’t have the requirements for a larger unit.
